Miles V. Ford Motor Company
Willie Searcy, his brother and stepfather were driving to his friend's house when their lives changed in an instant. A car came across the highway and hit them head-on. Willie's father and stepbrother walked away at the scene. Willie was left to fight for his life, rendered a quadriplegic, after slack in his seatbelt literally ripped his skull off his spine. The primary issue was that Ford's design of the seatbelt was defective and ultimately caused Willie's injuries to be far worse than they ever should have been.
Lee V. Pennzoil Quaker State Company
James Lee was on-duty for the Wills Point Police Department when he heard an explosion. As the first officer on scene, he arrived to discover his son on the ground, unrecognizable, with 90% of his body covered in burns, and clinging to life. Jimmy Lee lived for approximately one month in Parkland Memorial Hospital until he could fight no longer. A defective fitting at an oil change facility caused the explosion that took Jimmy's life.

A thirty-year licensed electrician worked at a Dallas-area plant. The electrician reported to the automation subcontractor, who in turn reported to the general contractor. Late in the day, after work was scheduled to be completed, the electrician was asked to complete some additional work. Shortly after he began, hot water and acid poured through a pipe and engulfed him, causing permanent and debilitating injuries that ended his career and dramatically altered his life.

Two sisters were returning home to Waco from Kansas when an 18 wheeler came into their lane of traffic, forcing the driver to take evasive action that led to the vehicle rolling multiple times in the median. The driver died at the scene. The trucking company relied on its GPS data to claim its trucks were not in the area. In a meticulous forensic review, the Ayres Law Office cross-checked all forms of data and found a serial set of conflicts and inaccuracies, including conflicts with the drivers' federally-required logs. Using the trucking company's own experts, we elicited testimony that the GPS systems were potentially defective and that the drivers repeatedly falsified their logs. The jury returned a $3.4 million verdict for the family.
